Somebody Jones
Writing a One Person Play
In this workshop we will explore how to approach writing exciting innovative and original one person plays; their form, content and structure.
Somebody Jones is an award winning playwright and dramaturg, originally from Los Angeles. Jones' debut play was a one person show called HOW I LEARNED TO SWIM. It premiered last summer at Roundabout Edsinburgh Fringe and toured to Brixton House and Bristol Old Vic. Jones also won Soho theatre's Tony Craze Award in 2022 for the play ALL MY FRIENDS ARE DEAD and has dramaturged for the Globe and Almeida Theatre.

Callan McCarthy
Demystifying Play Publishing
Callan McCarthy is playwright from Rhode Island, USA. After recieving a MA in Playwriting from City University London she was employed as the Comissioning Editor of Plays at Methuen Drama, Bloomsbury Publishing.
At Methuen she championed work from early - mid career theatre makers, helped young artists get published, and demystifyed the industry for many.
Although she is now working freelance, she is passionate about helping people achieve publication and supporting emerging artists.
In this workshop she will help to outline how the play publishing industry works and reveal its hidden secrets.

Nicholai La Barrie
Making a Career in the Arts
Nicholai La Barrie is a Theatre and Film director working in London. He is currently working as the Associate Artistic Director at the Lyric Hammersmith. Alongside this he works freelance as a director nationally.
Nicholai is passionate about working with young people and artists, and giving people who face significant barriers a leg up in the industry.
This workshop will be a Q&A about Nicholai's career, how he thinks the industry is moving, and the best way for young artists to tackle the industry head on.

Layla Chowdhury
Producing Your Own Show
Layla Chowdhury is a London-based performer / producer, as well as Artistic Director of The Mango Ensemble. She has worked at the Orange Tree Theatre and Lyric Hammersmith as a theatre producer as well as freelance. With her freelance producing she has toured shows around the UK with her company The Mango Ensemble. She has also supported emerging artists in getting their show off the ground and works to make the industry more accessible.
In this workshop we will go through the essentials of producing your own work, from outlining budgets, funding opportunities and the best ways to get programmed.

Devising Theatre
In this workshop Jess will take you throug many devising structures and activities that you can incorporate into your own practice, talk about how Sweet Beef devise and create 5*, award winning shows and explore how to create bold and challenging new theatre!
Jess Haygarth is a director, theatre maker and facilitator who specialises in creative collaborative devised work. Her company Sweet Beef is a queer theatre collective who create socio-political devised shows using comedy, dance and drag. They are Pleasance Associate Artists, winners of the Charlie Hartill Award 2024, and shortlisted for the LET Awards.

Harper K Hefferon
Trauma Informed Practice
In this workshop we will explore how to embed accessibility and trauma informed practice into the rehearsal room. Through activities and discussions we will examine how to make work that is supported and informed by peoples needs, that doesn't hinder the rehearsal space but enhances it.
Harper is a director originaly from New York, where she worked in theatre for over 10 years. Once moving to the UK, she graduated from Birkbeck College with an MFA in Theatre Directing. Over the last year they have worked as the Resident Assistant Director at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.
Harper's work has always been informed by their own access needs, over the last 15 years she has developed her own practice where accessibility is always central.

Tom Murray
Writing Character
Have you got a character you are looking to develop? Seeking a voice that is distinctive and engaging? This workshop explores how to create brilliant, compelling characters through a series of exercises exploring their inner and outer worlds.
Tom Murray is a multi-award winning playwright from Cambridgeshire. He studied for an MA in dramaturgy and writing from Goldsmiths before being awarded the position of Peter Shaffer Playwright in Residence at Trinity College, Cambridge, 2023-24.
His play North Star won the RSC 37-plays award and was commended for the use of language and character. He has toured nationally with Forgotten in the Land of Egypt and his most recent play American Candy was a runner up for the Charlie Hartill Award and longlisted for the Underbelly Untapped and Flesh and Blood Stories. He is published with Methuen Drama.

Isabella Thompson
Movement and the Actor
Isabella will guide the group through a series of techniques, games and exercises to unlock new ways of moving to help actors explore their full range of emoting through movement.
Explore, connect, and meditate with this compassionate practice that invites acceptance and kindness towards the physical form.
Isabella Thompson is a performer and movement director from London. She works with queer and consent lead practice and has an extensive background in dance, physical theatre and clowning.
Her movement work has been used touring productions such as John and Forgotten in the Land of Egypt. She also personally coaches actors in movement for auditions and for their own practice. Her work has helped people get cast at Lyric Hammersmith, National Youth Theatre and on tour.
